Preschool Santa Claus Visit

Other information: Every December Santa Claus comes to greet our preschoolers, listen to their wish list and hand out treats and a gift for each child. Parents are cordially invited to the event to share with us as a big family and take pictures with Santa to take home.

DCS FITNESS OPEN

Other information: Be the fittest team that competes at the WILDCAT Fitness competition that tests your speed, endurance, strength and most importantly teamwork! 


Instructions and Events

• Teams of 5 (minimum 2 girls per team)

Events

1. Row-Run-Fun (endurance)

• Each teams has to row 3.5K and then run 3.5K 

Complete the rowing before the running each member rows and runs 700 meters

2. 100s ladder (strength)

• 500 jump rope
• 300 squats
• 200 sit-ups
• 100 overhead lunges

Complete the total amount for one movement before starting the other; each member performs equal amount of reps in every movement

3. Obstacle Fun (Speed)

• Obstacle course for time

Each member sprints through the obstacle course fastest team wins

4. Fun in the Sun 

• 50 Synchronized Burpees
• 20 farmers carry (4 each member)
• Sprint to the end line (all the teams has to cross)
Complete the movements as a team. First team to cross the end line wins.

Scoring system

• Each event has a 1st to 7th place
• After the four events the team with the most points wins the open

Mañanita Navideña-Helping Hearts Helping Minds Club

Other information: Helping Hearts Helping Minds Club members have been invited again to support Instituto Juana Leclerc with their event Mañanita Navideña. Club members will collect gifts and visit the institution on November 15th.

DCS Elementary Spelling Bee Nov. 1-2. 2018

Other information: Our DCS Elementary Spelling Bee competition from 2nd to 5th grade will be held in the Science Lab on Nov. 1 in Spanish and on November 2 in English. The participants from each classroom were previously chosen on October 18-19th. The winners and runner-ups will be invited to represent DCS at the National Language Arts Festival, which takes place in February.

National Astronomic Observatory Visit

Place where event will be held: National University, UNAH

Grade participating in the activity: 11

Other information: The 11th grade AP Physics class will be visiting the National Astronomical Observatory with the purpose of applying and verifying students knowledge about Kepler’s laws and Newton's universal law of gravitation. The visit will be developed in three different stages; during the first stage, they will receive a lecture that will be a review of Kepler‘s laws of gravitation.

During the second stage they will make a simulation, and with the simulation, they will be using the observatory’s telescopes to check out the solar system and perhaps the sun by the time we’re going we are going to be there.

The final stage is a connection with Honduran history, a brief explanation of the Mayan culture’s astronomy delivered by an astronomer/archaeologist. 
The visit will last two hours. Students will be accompanied by Ms. Suarez msuarez@delcamposchool.org and Ms. Clarissa Castañeda ccastaneda@delcamposchool.org
Students must wear a complete uniform.

STUCO Swearing-In Ceremony

Other information: The inauguration of the Student Council of DelCampo School and the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected members of the Council for the year 2018 - 19 will be held at the school ́s auditorium, on October 22nd, 2018 at 10:30 am, in the presence of school authorities, parents of STUCO members, teachers, Honor Roll, and National Honor Society students.
The newly elected STUCO members and Class Presidents will be asked to come to the stage and take an oath to live up to the expectations and work with sync with the vision and mission of our school, directed by Mrs. Ligia Vásquez and accompanied by School ́s Secretary, Mrs. Ana Palada
New Council President, Ms. María José García will present her vision for the coming Academic year, her speech will emphasize union, integrity and the importance of leadership to serve others.
Final motivational speech and interventions to emphasized that student councils are meant to enhance communication between students, management, and staff will be delivered via Skype by Honduran Math Hero, Ph.D. Alejandra Sorto Texas State University, Math Department, and Delcampo alumni Alejandra Sandoval Taixes, Political Analyst - Northern Hemisphere at Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Honduras.
